A Girls Weekend Guide in Nashville, TN

Nashville is an incredible thriving, fun city to create new memories in. Anything goes, from low-key brunch ambience to party nights all night long; there is definitely a variety! Depending on your preference know I’ve got you covered šŸ˜‰

Things To Do in Nashville, TN

Live Music in the Music City

Experience the heart of Nashvilleā€™s music scene with live performances at iconic venues like the Grand Ole Opry or The Bluebird Cafe.

The Grand Ole Opry

What’s a girls weekend in Nashville TN without stopping by the Grand Ole Opry and checking out the “Women of Country” tour?! Maybe you want to take a look at behind the curtain and enjoy a “Post show backstage” tour. Regardless, the Grand Ole Opry has a variety of shows and tours for anyone. Check them out the next time you visit the Music City. Tickets range anywhere from $50+.

The Bluebird Cafe

This place was, and still is, one of my FAVORITE things to do on a girls weekend in Nashville, TN. The Bluebird remains a must-visit destination for music lovers. Now, don’t think cafe with baristas and coffee when you hear about this place. The Bluebird Cafe is a renowned listening room that has gained global recognition as a songwriterā€™s performance space. Situated in a small strip mall outside of downtown Nashville, the Bluebird Cafe may appear unassuming, but it holds immense musical significance. The Bluebird Cafe offers a unique and unforgettable musical experience like no other. šŸŽ¶

To quote regular-sized Rudy from Bob’s Burgers, this place is like witnessing tomorrow’s stars, today! Stars like Maren Morris, Taylor Swift, Garth Brooks and many more have performed here before their careers took off. It definitely is a unique, beautiful experience to witness acoustic versions of your favorite songs in such an intimate setting. What’s even more amazing is getting to hear the stories behind a song from the song writers themselves.

There are two ways you can be part of such a unique experience:

  1. Buy your tickets in advance and plan your trip around the date selected. Keep an eye out for any events you might be interested in here OR
  2. Try your luck on the day of and show up to the door before a showing and see if you can get in. If you can (some shows allow walk ups) and do end up showing up to the cafe, note to ensure a seat before a showing you have to arrive EARLY. If not, you will wait, and wait, and risk the opportunity in not seeing anything.

For more information check out the Bluebird Cafe for more details. My advice, reserve your tickets ahead of time if you can, because there is no guarantee by waiting in line that you will get in. When I went on my girls weekend in Nashville, we waited almost two hours and were the last folks to make it in for the last showing! We got lucky, and I’m so glad we were able to make the cut, because I was able to witness a cool historic place for music.

Country Music Hall of Fame

Whether youā€™re a country music enthusiast or a curious visitor, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum offers a rich tapestry of stories, sounds, and heritage šŸŽ¶šŸ¤ . The Country Music Hall of Fame Museum, nestled in the heart of downtown, is a must-visit destination! The Country Music Hall of Fame museum collects and preserves the ever evolving history and traditions of country music through a variety of exhibits, programs and more.

When I went to visit Nashville, the ā€œKacey Musgraves: All the Colors” exhibit was up and running back in 2019. I love Kacey and her music, so I was thrilled to have been in town while her exhibit was still going on. Another exhibit I would have loved to see was “Through Taylor Swift’s Eras” back in 2023 (hello, any swifties?! šŸ‘€). While these exhibits are no longer up, the museum has countless of others to check out. Tickets range $30+.

Music Row

Music Row, the heart of what makes Nashville well, Nashville. Here, you will find many recording studios where legends like Taylor Swift, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and so many more have recorded legendary songs. Personally, I’d skip this place, it’s one of those you see and you’re done. Unless, of course, you’re a major Johnny Cash fan, in that case keep reading.

Johnny Cash Museum

Any Johnny Cash fans?! If so, you cannot not go to the Johnny Cash museum while visiting Nashville! Now, I personally did not check this place out, but I wish I had, because, according to the website, this museum has many accolades, making it worth the visit. So check it out for me and let me know what you think! Tickets range $26+, for more details check out the museum’s website.

Art Mural Scavenger Hunt

A great way to see the city is by going on a quest! Enjoy the vibrant art scene as you search for Nashville’s iconic murals all over the city. If the weather permits, this is a fun, easy way to explore the city. Oh, and did I mention it’s a free way to see the city? šŸ˜‰ Nashvilleā€™s art murals are spread throughout the city, adding vibrant colors and culture to its streets.
